Dudleyshukokai Karate Club - UK Open Championships Febuary 07
Dudley Shukokai as usual took a strong squad to the Midlands championships held at the Next Generation club in Brierley Hill.
With nearly 500 competitors there it was going to be a long day, many of the students had to fight hard for the trophies that they won, Sensei Mandie Read set the standard for the day with a win in the ladies kata section, closely followed by assistant instructor Daniel Read who gained the silver medal in the mens division, not to be out done the under tens kata team took gold and Zara Murad in only her second competition won individual silver. Sensei Mandie Read, Daniel Read and 3rd team member Adam Zuibrzynski finished of the kata division with gold in the adult team kata section.
Onto the fighting and it was always going to be tough with some excellent fighters throughout the day, the boys 13-15yrs team took the bronze after some excellent fighting against boys much bigger than themselves, girls teams took silver and bronze medals and the ladies team secured a silver medal.
A fantastic result for the club everyone did themselves proud, a special well done to Lewis, Alfie, Ashley and Cameron for trying hard and giving it a go in the boys pee-wee fighting division keep up the good work.
