Dudley shukokai karate club presentation evening
2006 has to have been our busiest year to date, the club continues to grow from strength to strength. We have formed our own association, "The Dudley Shukokai karate association" all our members are now licensed within the club, all of my instructors have been CRB cleared to work with children and some now hold first aid certificates.
We have clubs affiliated to us and welcome new clubs who would like to be affiliated to us through our association. We also have guest instructors in regularly to teach the students.
2007 is going to be another busy year for us and our yearly calendar is filling up quickly with dates for forth coming tournaments and courses. We have sensei Wayne Otto booked twice with us for this year and a lot more is planned for later on in the year.
The presentation evening was yet another success with over three hundred people attending this just reconfirms to me how well the club is doing. I would like to take a moment to thank all the students for making the club what it is today thanks to all the parents who help out through out the year you all know who you are.

Just a quick note about everyone who won an award this year its not just about winning its about taking part that counts, you have all stood out from the crowd because of your determination and strength to succeed and for that we reward you.
                                           Well done to you all.
Best Newcomer

Cameron Williams This young person moved from the under six's class about six months ago and since then has gone from strength to strength. He is a regular member of the club and his hard work has paid off and he has now graded to orange belt.
Zara Murad This person has had a fabulous few months since joining the club. They have competed in a couple of tournaments and although there have not been any medals yet I'm sure there will be she regularly trains three times a week and although she is a yellow belt she already wants to do advanced kata.
Alex Hughes This person has had a brilliant few months since joining the club they have settled in well to karate life and is showing the potential to be a good fighter, I expect to see loads of medals in the near future.
Matthew Pugh A quiet member of the club this person has trained very hard and over the last few months has made extremely good progress especially as a fighter.

Most Improved

Aaron Haywood This person joined the club about a year and a half ago. A quiet member of the club he has kept his head down and trained hard, he have had some good success in the competitions and is at present working towards getting his black belt, hard work has paid off for him.
Alfie Mayall Another of my younger members who has moved from the under six's class, it has taken a while for him to settle into the regular class as it is quite daunting for some of the younger members, and we had a few tears whilst they adjusted but they fitting in nicely now and going from strength to strength.
Amber Ferguson has been at the club now for a couple of years she was very quiet and shy and has struggled with the fighting side of karate for quite a while. However they have turned it around and she is now part of a successful fighting team and she has recently graded to brown belt, she is no longer a frightened rabbit but she is now a lion.
Hayley Siviter Some days I almost forget she is training in the club she walks in trains very hard then goes out again. Hayley has a great future ahead of her and I would like to see her enter a competition or two.

Most Spirited

Chelsea Moore she receives this award for just that. She is really small and yet trys so hard against people much bigger than herself, she has entered a competition and fought against boys in the last competition the club went to.
Andy Moore he is one of the few people at the club who find karate very hard especially kata's however what he  lacks in technique he makes up for in heart and spirit, and although he is smaller than some of the other members he still gives 100% even if he is getting a good battering. He has also entered a few tournaments now and done well against people bigger than himself.
Lesley Ozwell A relative newcomer to the club although she has been connected to the club for years, she is amazing to watch train and puts in 100% effort into what she are doing whilst in the class. She is also gaining success with in tournaments.
Lewis Brierley  It seems like Lewis has been with us for ages but he has not however he just keeps getting his strength from somewhere, when watching him train its like watching one of my senior grades training as he constantly gives 100%

Student of the year

Chloe Ozwell She has been at the club for a long time now she has shown loyalty and dedication and perseverance she always gives 100% when training she always found kata and fighting hard to do but she has turned it around and is now a member of a fighting and kata team. In a few months she will be taking her 1st Dan grade a promise I made to her at last years presentation evening, she just needs to believe in herself as I do that she has got the ability.

Club person of the year

Greg Haywood he receives the award this year for being there for everyone, he will put himself out so he can help others members with their problems, Greg is one of a kind he is a valued member within the club and in getting this award it is thanks from the members of the club as they were the ones who voted for him to be to the receiver.
