W K A Open Karate Championships Birmingham......Sunday 15th May 2011
Dudley shukokai Karate Club headed to Perry Barr in Birmingham for the WKA Championships . The club as usual were on great form taking many of the kata medals. Zack Haywood won the under 10 section with team mate Farren Brown taking the bronze. A well deserved silver for Ryan Brookes in the 10-12 section was followed by gold for Aaron Haywood and Bronze for Georgia Burgess in the 13-17 section. Our men didn't disappoint either with Daniel Read taking the mens title and Sab Lally earning a bronze. Our kata pairs and teams were on great form to winning the under 10ís under 16 and over 16 sections !!!!
On to the fighting and still the club continued to be in the medals with our under 10ís Farren Brown and Harvey Hawkes taking the gold and silver medals. Jessica Wall had some great fights to come out on top of the girls 10-12 section. Sam Wooldridge had some fabulous fights and the final was nail biting with Sam taking the boys 10-12 section. The boys 13-15 section was tough and some of these boys were big strong fighters !!! Ethan Bayton although unsuccessful on the day took a lot away from his fight with one of the strongest fighters in the group. Jamie Armstrong eventually took the title and very well deserved it was too !!!!! The ladies were up next and our only lady competitor didn't disappoint and had some good fights to take the silver medal. Daniel Read and Scott Reynolds completed our very successful day with gold and silver in the mens section. A fabulous day was had by all... hard work and effort once again paying off.
Many Thanks to Sensei John Richards for the invite to his competition
