SKA National Open Kata Championships 27th March 2011
This was Dudley Shukokai’s first visit to Warrington and to the SKA Association. This was just a kata competiton and we had taken some of our best kata competitors. Teams were up first and we had wins in the under 10’s pairs and the over 16 pairs with our other pairs teams taking silver and bronze positions. Our under 10 3 man team won gold as did our under 15 teams who also took the silver in the same event. Our senior team held onto a well deserved bronze. In our individual events we also had some great results with Farren Brown and Zack Haywood earning themselves bronze medals in the under 10 section, Louis Brierley had an excellent result fighting his way to the final with a category of 29 competitors to take the silver medal. Jess Wall still on form from the Wales Competition did the same in a large field of competitors to take the silver in the 12 and under section. The club narrowly missed out on the club of the day trophy with the hosts SKA taking the title. Many thanks to the SKA for their invite, it was an excellent competiton with some fabulous kata on display !!!
