Dudley Shukokai Karate - 'A' squad training 30th May 2010
Dudley Shukokai held their monthly A squad training session, the purpose of this session was to prepare for the up and coming FEKO nationals and to try and iron out any problems. The session was well attended with around 40 people taking part. As well as the Dudley students there were students from Pensnett dojo and guests from Wado kai,Kobush and WKA. Sensei Sab Lally got the session under way with some free sparring and a warm up session before the students got down to some real work. The students worked on timing of a bout and shobu ippon tactics as well as blocking techniques and following up with attacks. Their fitness was also tested as each student had to perform for a set amount of time. After a short break it was on to one on one fights with our qualified referees overseeing the proceedings. As well as the fighters this was a chance for our referees to practice ... overseen by FEKO chief referee Bob Phillips. With the fighting out the way it was time for some kata practice and the referees once again had chance to have a go at the scoring system. Once again an excellent session with everyone taking something away !!!! Many thanks to everyone who supported the session.... students, coaches, instructors and referees alike. Thank You.
